Vehicle advice

I’ve done a fair amount of reading this forum but still not sure which direction to take......so here goes.
I want a vehicle with the following characteristics:
1. Opinions aside, No electronics in case of EMP
2. 4wd
3. Gas or diesel doesn’t much matter but diesel is preferable
4. Prefer Small
5. Seats 4 with some room for gear
Most everything I need is already at BO location so it will mainly be personal weapons, backpacks, bikes on a rack, etc. We are only traveling 250 miles with virtually no highway use. We will have little need or use for the vehicle once there.
Family of four, older teenage kids have not driven a motorcycle but could with a little practice.

Lastly, if I can pull it off, it would be nice for it to be a ‘fun’ vehicle we can actually use once in a while.

So. Small SUV or something like a Jeep CJ? Motorcycles with a couple small trailers? Scooters? (No fat girl jokes) Humvee? Old Suburban? FJ40 if I can find an affordable one?

As you can see, each have pros/cons and I just can’t figure it out. Currently looking at a 1972 Jeep Commando in really good shape and mechanically sound for $6500.
