If i ever use gloves whilst gardening or working outdoors, i pretty much always wear mountain biking gloves.
I pick them up in charity shops or ebay for about a fiver per pair. Cos they're cheap, i can work the arse off them and not be too precious about losing them. You get great freedom of movement in your fingers and thumb and therefore much improved dexterity. Even the really cheap ones have decent grip and padding on the palms, and they're nice and flexible.
The down-sides for me are they always have velcro as a way of securing the wrists which i don't like, and they're always in well dodgy colours and patterns! Not at all Stealth haha. Also, the cheaper ones are never waterproof.
Also to be considered, the stitching on the fingers of the cheaper kinds, it always comes away.
So i've learnt the hard way to go over the stitching of the fingers with good strong thread BEFORE i wear them. Really its worth the time, because they always tear, always, and sometimes its hard to get them sewn nice and even again if they tear in a particular way.
Prevention is definitely better than cure, in this case!
But all in all, they're a great cheap choice. I hope this is helpful to someone. Alan
