I assume you mean GFSZA, which generally has relatively seldom ever been prosecuted.

The cases I've ever seen mentioned were tacked on to state firearm or other violations, mostly as a way to sting gangsta types and other bad folks harder than the state laws could alone, or was added to other federal charges.

I don't think I've ever heard of an otherwise law abiding motorist been stung with it really. In that regard, I just don't think it's a cause for worry. I'd opine that a large percentage, if not actually the majority, of legal gun carriers across the US don't even know about that law period.
