There was nothing wrong with American Healthcare. Nobody was ever turned away. If you couldn't afford care, there was charity care, or medicare, or medicaid, or you just didn't pay the bill. The system wasn't perfect but it worked better than socialized medicine in other places.
Healthcare and Insurance is America's second largest industry. Education is first and the government already has that one under it's control. If you're a progressive that believes that all forms of production should be under government control, healthcare and insurance are the big fish. But it's hard to convince a nation that it needs to nationalize something that's working fine the way it is.
Obamacare was never about fixing anything. Obamacare was about breaking healthcare. You have to break it in order to convince the people that it's best to turn it over to the government so they can fix it.
We'll be hearing a lot more liberal media agencies jump on this in the next few weeks. The next president will need to "come up with" the idea to nationalize healthcare to "fix" what Obama "screwed up". They want to be sure they have all 4 years of the next president's term to get this done. Since the new president starts in a year from now, it's time to do start the media blitz that we now need the government to step in and fix it.
The banking industry will be next. After those three industries are nationalized, it's all small potatoes.
