Would you donate to the greater good?

I look at my neighbors. We exchange pleasantries and gardening help. Look after each others' children and put up with each others' dogs and such.
But after years of investment in planning and preparation, I am more and more thinking about my friends and neighbors while my whole way of life has been
family and their well-being in a increasingly disorganized world.

So I ask in all humbleness. Family first to the last?
