Your thoughts on Gregory Baltoro Pack

The Baltoro is a very capable pack, I'm sure it would be a great choice for you.

Fwiw, the lid on the Osprey is removeable, and even with the lid, the Aether is 1/4 lb lighter than the Baltoro.

I usually leave the lid off my top loading packs anyway. And generally speaking, the overall issue with packs sticking up too high is one of the main reasons I prefer smaller packs. I do a lot of off trail excursions and smaller packs are a lot easier to climb over, under, or around various obstacles.
