Long term financial \retirement impacts of prepping.

I'm hoping some of our more.... Seasoned... Membership can weigh in.

And to be clear when I say "prepping" I mean self sufficiency, not shelf sufficiency.

Its something that's been on my mind of late as I make progress.
(I'll be buying beef one more time, then I'll be 'beef independent' god willing and the creek don't rise.)

Fish
Eggs
Pork
Turkey

Fruit trees
Berry bushes
Home made jellies and jams
Wine
Vegies
Herbs (I saved QUITE a bit last year on garlic and onions alone)
Honey
Fish

Then there's solar

Wood heat
Working on my car, etc

Etc
Because the more independent you are, the less you need to source, which also means buy.

It has me thinking of the long term financial ramifications.
Not just dollar for dollar, but the unneeded compound interest, lack of inflationary impact, etc

I'm acting like its not a factor (in my retirement planning) since its only a positive impact, but I can't help wondering....

Let's block ads! (Why?)
