Zombies ! !

Zombies really would not be as big a problem as film makes it out to be once people got organized.

Depends a bit on the type of Zombie. Is this slow-moving Zeds with long-gestation infection (as seen in Walking Dead, Dawn of the Dead, etc.) or fast-acting infection and athletic Zeds as seen in 28 Days later?

If all that is required to kill it is severing the head or destroying the brain, then a semi-auto .22LR or even an AR15 would be totally fine.

The biggest problem is pure numbers. Theoretically millions of zeds and endless waves of Zeds would be the issue. You'd be best to build a layered security fort, with walls, uneven ground (like large rocks which require dexterity to cross), ditches, barriers, concertina wire, and lures into traps. And then kill them with non-firearm weapons like spears as they collect.

You'd have to be proactive at killing anyone infected or right when they die. And need to be proactive and go out in teams to exterminate them. Be prepared to exterminate big hoards with creative weapons. Set up traps like suspended logs (like the Ewoks did), big pits with sharpened spikes, etc. Injuring them badly (broken hips, legs, etc.) may not kill them but renders them harmless.

The mishandling of threats seen in various films is extremely aggravating. For instance, when in TWD when they were in Alexandria, and the zeds were gathering outside the walls, the solution is simple. Make some spears and stand there on the wall and spear them, thru the head, one at a time. Or gather bricks and stand there and drop bricks on their skulls. A few hours and problem solved.

The other issue is armor. Few movies or shows show folks in any armor. TWD had some folks in light athletic gear in some areas of the body. Z nation I think showed Brad Pitt duct tape rolled up magazines on his arms. You'd need to suit up in some heavy leather motorcycle type gear and protect all your skin from bites and clawing. Then go out and rampage.

They also needed early warning systems, trip wires, bells, tin cans on strings, etc. They never seem to learn and are constantly surprised by these smelly, slow moving, mindless monsters.

Critical thinking and tool use would rather easily get you out of most jams against mindless zombies.

Let's block ads! (Why?)
