My wife and are having a new well sunk for our cabin.
Since we're putting in a new pump, I'm soliciting opinions on 115V Grundfos pumps, specifically the 10SQ05-160. It's a 1/2 HP 10GPM pump with integrated electronics. They are also disposable. Meaning, if they fail there's not much to repair so it's instead replaced.
I like the idea of 115V as it means that I won't have to buy a 240V generator. Since Grundfos pumps have a multi stage start up process, they don't have the same incoming current surge that a normal pump would have. Ideally, then, my 2000 watt Yamaha inverter generator will be all that I need.
The cost is about double of that your Lowes variety 230 volt pump, but so long as the reliability is there I'm willing to pay for it.
Anyone have experience with this particular pump or Grundfos in general?
