Another "When your land lease expires" story.

http://ift.tt/2quaRUx

Snippet: Since the 1950s, a local power company had leased little plots of land it owned to 155 locals for a few hundred bucks a year so they could build cabins along the Ontonagon River. Then, in 1992, the federal government acquired the land, and said the owners had to move their cabins or abandon them after their final 25-year leases expired.

Opinion: Sad yes, would I prefer a different ending to the story? Yes again. Does my logical side wonder why the people invested and built on land they didn't own and thought that things would never change? Yes again.

The NFS is an agency (and not the only one) that sees people as the problem rather than appreciating that it is the taxpayers hand that feeds it. This federal attitude needs to change.

rant over.
