I want to start a discussion about "rights" their origin and their implications.
Let's talk about "Natural" law first.
The Declaration of Independence refers to "the laws of Nature and Natures God".
I understand completely the laws of Nature. The lionesses take the Zebra. That is Nature. That is natural. That is the way reality works.
That we are endowed by our existence of certain "rights" - by our mere existence I question.
Do we justify our own existence only because we exist?
And I know you can't prove or disprove a negative. Got it.
I subscribe to the Judaic and Christian codes of ethics morality and conduct. Mostly.
But if you remove the tethers of a civil society- are we not all animals seeking survival at our core? That's natures law. Natures god is a step above that.
I know that in an uncivil society- I would be less than a good guy.
It's probably best for all of us if we remain civil. Once those brakes are taken off...
That's not gonna be a bad day.
