Once Government got into healthcare it causes people like the Elderly and their Medicare to be treated like ATM machines, which jacked up the costs for everyone because the Government provided "Free Insurance". Allowing pre-existing conditions did not make the situation any better.
Let's examine today's Car Insurance, which is relatively low in the insurance world ...
You pay x amount to cover x amount. You file a claim when something serious happens, depending on your insurance. If you file too much, or it's your fault, your rates go up. Nobody files a claim for every "Bruise and Scrape" they receive. They also don;t file claims AFTER they crash.
Here's how Health Insurance works now. Every Medicare / Medicaid person enters the ER after a belly ache. They still get "Free" care. And now people get care, after eating junk food and not exercising, AFTER they have long term problems.
If this was car insurance ...
- You cannot be covered for more then you pay in, per policy
- You can't file a claim (enter the ER) every time you stub a toe (or else your rates would rise)
- You can't file a claim AFTER you crash, period.
- You can't smash your car with rocks and file a claim, that's fraud. (Treating your body like crap THEN asking for healthcare)
All in all, unless a similar system to a Car Insurance policy, where company all across state lines compete on the PRIVATE level only, it's a complete failure. And right now that is not happening, and it is a complete failure.
Why Healthcare is a Failure
