Off the top, one thing I like is we will finally have a Sawyer with in-built chemical reduction ("foam" rather than AC, but still a positive I think).

One thing I don't like is the price and especially price per use.

One thing I like off the top is the redesign of the actual delivery mechanism. The original LS bottles had a teat on top that you pulled up to get water; too much pressure in the chamber and water gushed out. The Liberty has a valve on the side to control flow.

Has anyone ever gotten a bad/defective batch of prescription drugs? I'm suspecting I did. My doc upped the dosage of my BP meds and all has been going fine. I just got a refill about two weeks ago and my blood pressure has skyrocketed. I couldn't figure out why. Well, I still had about two months worth of the original lower dosage BP meds and I switched back to them, thinking maybe the last batch I got had a problem. Well, my blood pressure began to drop and now it's back to normal. That makes me think that maybe I'm right and the last batch of meds is bad.

I'm about to go back to the pharmacy and ask for a replacement for the balance of the meds. I know they aren't going to believe me and won't listen, but I'll try..

Anyone else run into this?

What is it about the .357 magnum that gives it longevity? Revolvers and cartridges like the .357, .41, and .44 are relics from a bygone area, but for some reason they refuse to fade away. While the popularity of the .41 seems to of faded away, the .357 and .44 magnum appear to be holding firm.

I usually write long scathing letters to congress and for the record mine are suppose to be republicans but i am going to change my tactics and keep them short. With a few simple yes or no questions.

1. In the last 30 days have you publically called for an investigation into the clinton e-mail server,uranium one,ben-ghazi or any other of a host of criminal and or treasonous activities by these scumbags?

2. In the last 30 days have you publically called for an investigation into the fast and furious or the irs targeting of tea party conservative groups or any other abuses of power by those in government?

If you have please let me know the time and place of the venue because i must have missed it.

These are simple yes or no questions a non-answer will suffice as a no since that seems to be the establishment way.

The reason i asked is because the american people need to know if their elected officials are worth supporting or trusting to uphold and defend the constitution of the united states of america against all enemies foreign and domestic. And among the domestic enemies that includes the establishment party in our nations capital compromised of both democrats and republicans who appear to be in the same bed together.

Just how safe is that car you're driving? 24/7 Wall St. investigated to come up with a ranking of the safest and least safe car models sold in the US. The cars you'll want to drive, and those you won't, based on driver death rates:

Deadliest:

Safest:

1. Volkswagen Tiguan 2WD
2. Toyota Tacoma double-cab long bed 4WD

I'm looking at this list trying to make sense of it. Right away it looks like small cars aren't a safe as bigger vehicles. I was always told that trucks and SUVs aren't as safe as cars because they are more prone to roll over, but clearly that isn't true. Every vehicle on the safest list is a SUV or truck. It appears that 4wd possibly makes you safer somehow.

There's no proof, but I believe the types of people who buy these vehicles also contributes to them crashing. For example, it's probably mostly young folks buying those tiny, inexpensive cars. Young folks are notoriously worse drivers. The list of safest cars are most likely driven by "baby on board" mom types who are probably the safest drivers. I think the double cab, 4x4, long bed Tundra made the list simply because it's huge and rare as hens teeth. Nobody is dying in them because so few people drive that model.

What do you think? Anyone considering changing their car to increase their survival odds based on this information?

Nov 4 fema and dod want to do a solar storm scenario that wipes out the communications and grid, they want amateur radio operators to send in status reports for their counties across the country. here is an email that was posted on a ham site about the test:

Thanks for your email. Our focus and direction from the supported Department of Defense HQs is for MARS to serve as the liaison for DOD to reach out to the amateur radio community. We are not tied to only focusing on ARES or RACES...if you have an amateur radio license, you are our target audience. My best recommendation is to monitor the
60 meter interop channels (all USB):

5330.5 (this is where the broadcast will take place Sunday morning 0300Z which is actually 2300 eastern Sat night)
5346.5
5357.0
5371.5
5403.5

Also Sunday at 1600Z will be a second broadcast on 13483.5 USB.

Follow the instructions on the broadcast and submit a reception report for a QSL card.

We will focus our outreach on the 60 meter channels...the broadcast will tell you which channel to use for a give part of the country. Our operators will be asking for county information...basically the status of electricity, water, sewer, transportation, medical...this will all be done via voice...one radio op talking to another radio op.

I opened a can of mushrooms today, the same mushrooms thst I have 4 cases of.... and there was mold on one mushroom. It was hard mold, light color and green. Very strange looking. I've never seen anything like it. Any idea how that could happen?

The rest of the mushrooms looked ok and the can wasn't swollen or frothing when I opened it. I obviously threw it out. Should I throw the 4 cases out? Iv eaten them before with no problem.

I'm an industrial designer and am very familiar with all sorts of manufacturing techniques. My team and I have developed a rough concept for a 10'X6'X6' basement fallout shelter with a PF 500.

The idea is to sell and ship it via Amazon and it's assembled easily by one person in an afternoon.

I'm estimating the price to be less than $2,500 without any accessories such as food, cots, etc. A fully outfitted fallout shelter for a family of 4 including food and accessories for 2 weeks would also be offered.

What started out as a work related conversation with a liberal co-worker turned into suffering liberal anti gun nonsense .
Seemed like he'd been waiting for any chance to talk to me so he could regurgitate his liberal anti gun crap .

So he starts off with "there are too many guns" !!! I say "oh boy here we go"
but he didn't here me because he was too intent on getting out his rant .
He goes on ; Any one can buy a gun , you don't need a machine gun for hunting gun shows , bump stocks , blah blah blah

I really didn't want to get into this stupid conversation but ;
ME -Not true that anyone can buy a gun
HIM - too many stupid people have guns
ME- stupid people drive cars too
HIM- but you need a license to drive a car
ME - you need a license to buy a gun
HIM - but they need to do background checks and register guns
At this point I'm getting really disgusted but I inform him that they do background checks in MA.
HE says - well in Pennsylvania and South Carolina any one can walk into a gun show and buy anything they want or do a private sale
Then he says , in Pennsylvania they have to paint cows orange so people don't shoot them
He said something about bump stocks too but at this point my brain was getting numb and I don't remember what was said .

I couldn't take anymore so I said ok and walked away .

You really can't have a reasonable intelligent conversation with a liberal

Edit ; The liberal co-worker isn't a brainwashed snowflake millennial . He's mid 60s , reasonably intelligent , college educated , religious , served in the military . Somehow he's been infected with the liberal disease that kills the part of the brain used for critical thinking and common sense .

Anybody up in the Brainard area?

Many moons ago I took french a few years in high school,hour a day.
Never really used it,and have forgotten most of it.
Now I'm much older,and in SWFL.
Learning some basic spanish would benifit me,but I can't devote an hour a day in a classroom setting.
I've heard of rossetta stone,on-line courses,etc...

Just wondering if any of ya'll learned later in life,and what worked for you?

I'm not asking what is the "best",just some options/methods.

Movie "Let there be Light"

New movie out called Let There Be Light with Kevin and Sam Sorbo. It is a SPIRITUAL DYNAMO. Sorbo plays the worlds best known athiest who meets God head on. It is wonderful. Very moving, uplifting, and sincere. Sean Hannity provided funding and plays a small part also.
I highly recommend it!

Some things I 'forgot':

They pee a LOT, They poop a LOT, They chew on things a lot, There can be 20 identical balls on the ground and they will still choose to fight over 'one' of them instead of each getting their own, They poop a LOT.

Some things that are familiar:

They learn fast, They love having a semi-regular routine and schedule, It takes no longer to take a pair potty than it does one, It takes no longer to take a pair to the vet than it does one, A pair will 'entertain' each other and burn energy with less work on the part of the owner (other than supervision of course), A pair can help each other learn some things.

Guessing I have about a year to a year and a half of training before they are 'right' - Possibly less depending on how much they pick up from the older / adult female Doberman that was / is already living here.

My existing adult has not really 'made buddies' with the new puppies yet but has definitely become very protective of them. Watches them and the yard like a hawk when they are all outside. Quick to warn any strangers coming near to 'not' come near.

This is going to be fun!

For those who knew Old Soldier, he had a heart attack 10 days ago and passed away. I don't know if any of you conversed with him much. He was a retired MSgt, USA. But if you did, I thought you'd like to know why he suddenly dropped from SB.

Anyone know someone who had one of these? A friend in her 60's who lives alone maybe had a minor TIA a few days ago. Made them dizzy for a day or two and mild speech changes until a visiting family member realised and got them into hospital. Neurology obs at that stage were negative( balance had returned, no strength loss), CT scan came back clear. TIA possibly diagnosis at this stage and being referred to a vascular/TIA clinic for further scans in the next couple days.

I visited and noticed symptoms almost all gone, but her words or choice of words a little different, like a slight personality change. She seems a bit off so to speak, laughing a bit loudly, and talking more expressively( normally a quiet spoken person) I guess the TIA clinic will explain more about this and recovery.

Anyone have experience with these events?

I was going to spend some time with her as my weekend is clear, keep her talking, Was also going to cover travel money for a long distance relative to visit her. As she lives alone I was thinking human interaction will help with brain fluidity and things getting back to normal?

For those not familiar with radios, any decent FRS/GMRS radio will cover about .5-1.0 mile on flat, suburban terrain. Motorola has some really good ones, and they run on any AA battery you can find (alkaline, lithium disposable, and Eneloop rechargeable); they can also receive weather information and can even recharge batteries with a USB port. Unless I knew with certainty that they could operate something more sophisticated, this is what I would provide to neighbors.

For those more familiar with radios, Baofeng handheld radios can be programmed to operate on FRS/GMRS frequencies, but they can also operate on many other frequencies (police, fire, EMS, marine, HAM, and FM broadcast). These are NOT a plug and play easy option.

I have a couple of FRS/GMRS radios that I would give to one or perhaps two neighbors in the event of a significant disaster where everyone bugged in. I would then communicate with them using one of my Baofeng radios that I've already programmed to operate on the same frequencies.

Sportsman's Guide had a special deal on a limited edition Ruger 10/22 Kryptek Typhon rifle. It came with a 25 round BX-25 and I had a gift card that was going to expire soon so I figured what the heck.

I cleaned and lubed it up and headed to the range.
Right off the bat I encountered three issue. First, the magazine follower was a bit 'floppy.' As it turned out it would hang up at least one or two times, no matter that ammunition that I tried. Switching to another magazine solved the problem but I am stuck with a defective magazine.

The trigger break is awful. I have had quite a few 10/22s over the years and this is the worst by far, trigger-wise. (The good news is that I have several good spares laying around.) Not only is the break bad but it is catching on the reset, making an odd noise at times.

Last, there were quite a few failures to extract. I usually replace the extractor with an Eagle Claw anyway but still, this was only the second one that I have had an issue with right out of the box. (the other was in a Ruger Mark III 45/22 which uses the same extractor.)

Good news is that it was accurate. As with my other 10/22's it seems to like Federal AutoMatch or 40 gr Mini-Mags the best for accuracy. It looks like they have reduced the width of the front sight a bit but I will probably be adding a fiber optic anyway.

My experience with Ruger Customer Service has been pretty good in the past. I am hoping I can send them the trigger group and the magazine for replacement and not the whole rifle.

What makes me sad it the decline in quality control at Ruger.

I do like the stock except for the front eyelet for the sling attachment It looks very fragile.

Good guy with a gun stops kidnapping

I didn't read the article links! Apologize. I do remember being told by a mainland Chinese friend that dairy products such as butter and cheese were being promoted in his country. He was eating cheese for the first time. It was coming from NZ. This is many years ago.

I don't know if it was related or not to his dietary change but soon after he grew a big belly and began saying he looked like Buda!
