Butter shortage?

I didn't read the article links! Apologize. I do remember being told by a mainland Chinese friend that dairy products such as butter and cheese were being promoted in his country. He was eating cheese for the first time. It was coming from NZ. This is many years ago.

I don't know if it was related or not to his dietary change but soon after he grew a big belly and began saying he looked like Buda!
