Looking to make a purchase of some Freeze Dried food. I have rice, beans and a few other things put up in mylar, oxygen absorbers and secure in sealed buckets. I have a little freeze dried but wanted everyone's opinion on the best tasting and best for you. I don't want anything loaded with sodium and other preservatives. Wanting freeze dried so i can simply buy, put up, and forget about for 25 years or so. |
If you just want some entree pouches, then they are now rated for longer than 30 year shelf life.
If you are going to store more freeze dried and you like #10 cans, then consider getting at least some of the single component products that MH calls "Sides and Meats". When you combine them with other staples like your rice, beans, pasta, etc they provide greater diversity of menu and better value for money.
When you buy meat and vegetable products in #10 cans, there are some other products from other manufacturers that are worth buying. While MH are the best and make many great products, they are not quite a "one stop shop".
For example, I like the potato products from Augason Farms.
