Democrats promise to put gun control on the front burner

Now that Democrats are in control of the house some of them are saying gun control will be passed.

However, GOP still controls the senate.

President Trump is unlikely to sign any serious gun control bills.

Democrats from gun friendly conservative states know they voter base does not want gun control.

With all of that in mind, I doubt any type of gun control will pass. This is mostly political posturing to make the far left happy.

As of when this post is made I am 50 years old and have been watching politics seriously since the late 1980s. I have various gun magazines from the 1980s and 1990s talking about serious gun control issues of the time. So I know the ups and downs of the gun control debate.

When Obama was president democrats were unable to pass any kind of gun control. For two years 2008 - 2010 (if I remember right) Democrats had control of both houses and the presidency. Even with all of that in place not a single piece of gun control legislation was passed.

Several years ago I there was a political commentator talking about about how no control laws have been passed in over a decade. Even after Sandy Hook no new national gun laws were passed. Some were passed on the state level but not the federal level.

Democrats are going to talk, but they have some serious battles to fight besides gun control. The party is splintering between conservative blue collar democrats and the new socialist agenda.

Social Security
Medicare for all
Gun Control
Raising taxes... and those are just a few on the list.

What I see coming for the next two years is stagnation with nothing being passed.

Let's be honest - Democrats are more focused on Trumps tax returns than they are on gun control.
