Travel laundry!

While I was refilling my travel laundry kit this morning after yet another multi week trip with kids and the extra laundry that goes along with it I thought I’d open a discussion of what everyone finds useful/workable (TSA approved) for carry on laundry kits.

I’ve got a fairly workable kit, but hope I can learn something I’ve overlooked!

The best sink/tub stoppers I’ve found are https://www.amazon.com/Jar-Wrestler-.../dp/B00WTSLA4G these Jar Wrestler Silicon pads!

I’d made one similar several years ago out of an old inner tube, but the black color got overlooked on a black hotel counter top one morning. The bright orange color makes overlooking them less likely!

Dryer sheets are easy I just stuff as many of my normal ones into a quart ziplock bag as I’m likely to need! Silicon stopper goes in same bag!

Laundry soap is a two prong approach!

Sink laundry is done with the Fels Naptha Soap laundry bar! https://www.amazon.com/Fels-Naptha-L...76005760&psc=1 I allow bar to dry usually on the top of a hotel cup before I repack it into it’s ziplock quart bag.

Machine laundry is normally done with a laundry pod if I can find any with powder inside. Arm & Hammer is what I found last time, but they don’t open reliably in the washer so I generally open them as I start the load!

Powdered laundry detergent in a ziplock bag can also be used if I can’t find pods.

Machine drying is used when available with standard dryer sheets in most places! Tropical or other hot areas excepted!

Hang drying is catch as catch can! Rolling wet clothes into a hotel and wringing the towel speeds things up substantially.

Hanging outside isn’t acceptable in many places so be aware of where you’re at!

I don’t normally carry anything for hang drying as I can usually find something suitable, but throwing in some braided mason’s line might be smart!

This kit has worked everywhere from the streets of Manhattan to tropical islands and ever place in between!
