A number of dead folks tried burying shipping containers. They have no sides that will support the weight of earth.

By the time you got it strengthened enough to safely bury it you will have spent more than just building an underground room the right way with concrete block walls.

Shipping containers go above ground.

Look into buried dome homes instead.
