Iqrit

Maaloul near Nazareth, for example, was a Christian-majority village depopulated during the 1948 war. But two specific cases stand out in their infamy, debunking certain answers given here: Biram and Ikrit. These were two Christian villages on the border with Lebanon, whose population peacefully surrended to the Haganah and got the Israeli citizenship. Notice that these two communities had not taken part to the hostilities. Yet, after a couple of days from the surrender, the Palestinian christians were told to temporarily leave their houses, being reassured they would be soon back. Instead, the government seized their land and gave it to Jews.
