What?s Your Hunting Game Plan?

Fall hunting seasons are open in many states. Early seasons officially signals the beginning of the annual hunting seasons. That means bow hunting seasons for white-tailed deer is probably open where you hunt. When the clock starts rolling fast toward deer hunting, the time really passes fast. That means everything gets rushed with little time […]

People dumping dogs due to economic downturn?

Living in a rural area seeing dumped dogs is not "that" uncommon. I am a member of a pets group on Facebook and every few days someone posts pics of dogs needing a home.

It seems over the past couple of months things have gotten worse. I have seen 5 dogs that appeared to have been dropped off.

  • I picked one up and gave it a home.
  • Two got on the highway and were killed - they traveled close to 2 miles.
  • Two more appeared on the county road I live on.
Usually the dogs are a couple here, couple there, and now all of a sudden I have seen 5.

I am not sure what is causing the surge, but I wonder if the economic downturn is a factor. Unemployment has not been extended, people are running out of money.... something has to give.

Preparing Hunting Property Before Deer Season

Many fall hunting seasons will soon be open, if they’re not already. Just like my hunting club, we sit cool as a cucumber at home in the air conditioning daydreaming about what the coming hunting season will produce. Right now is the best time to lay out plans and then get to work on them. […]

The Opening Salvo In The War On White Men

Interesting hypothesis , and one that would seem to carry quite a degree of validity. I would however put forth the postulation that it was only part of the opening salvo you reference.

One could make a case that the syndrome may have started even earlier than that , various hints of it can be found at the intersection of the Beat Generation with the Hippie Generation and became more evident from there on.

As regard Rob Reiner ( hereafter refered to as " The Whiner) , y'all may note the fact that while he may snivel as regards " White Privilege" he had zero problems with exploiting his " HollyWeird Daddy Privilege" to get ahead , now did he? Without his father having been Carl Reiner would he have ever been anything beyond a second-rate playhouse actor and/or another failed Lounge Comedian?

Examine if you will the transformation of the anti-authoritarian , free spirited , anti-establishment Hippie Left into what they claimed to fear most. I.E. hardline authoritarian Establishment bent on controlling the rank and file citizen from womb to tomb , morphing into a cult of fear and control.

Those who value personal freedom , self responsibility and ownership of ones self and ones actions have in this day and age become " The Radicals". Begging for Mommy Government to tell folks what to do has become the order of the day with the Left , along with exerting totalitarian violence to get the public to comply with their edicts/wishes.

Kerouac is rolling over in his grave , the spirit of Neal Cassaday is running for the horizon.

Rough Country 5" Lift

Any lift more than a couple inches is going to be invasive if it's done right. Ball joints, CVs, tie-rods etc can only accommodate so much of an angle.

And many types of suspension are designed to dynamically change camber and toe as the suspension travels to give better turning performance and so when you lift or lower, you change the entire alignment and may put it out of range of the existing camber bolts.

The only way to get more clearance without angling your CVs is to use bigger tires as otherwise you are just lifting the body but dropping your diffs to maintain angles and ending up with the same axle clearance.

But you can do a lot with a SMALL spacer lift and bigger tires without getting to deep in.

Holiday season plans?

My BIL has put on Thanksgiving for about 30 years but not this year due to their virus paranoia. My one son was talking about doing it, a small group of maybe 8 of us. My oldest son is getting his own apartment, but he will be here. My girlfriend will help with the cooking.

Christmas, my oldest son said he wasn't into us having it this year (last year he was in alcohol rehab at the time, is now doing well) and I doubt we could manage to get many takers. We used to fill the place up with 20 to 30 people. So maybe low key is the way to go, we might put up a tree.

Printing maps to proper scale

National Geographic has made every US Geological Survey (USGS) topographical map in the United States easy to print out at home.

No more fumbling and grumbling over finding the right quads and wishing it would work easily on standard printer paper. Now it is as easy as zooming in on the desired area, click, and print from the printable PDF.

https://petapixel.com/2016/08/06/nat...raphical-maps/

USGS topographic maps are a must-have if you would like to know the geographic lay of the land, including roads, railroads, rivers, streams, lakes, boundaries, place names, mountains, etc.

Leatherman Free p4- my quest for the perfect multi tool

Ok so I broke my SOG multi tool. I decided to try a leatherman free. I’ve used it for just a couple of days and I’ll give some thoughts.

Pros

1. Not as big as the sog or some other MTs. It’s not too small to use. It is MUCH more EDC friendly than a large size MT.

2. Pocket Clip. I don’t think I’ll use the pouch to carry it ( see cons ) Again much more EDC friendly.

3. One handed opening is pretty good for knife and pliers. Opening other tools isn’t really one hand , but it’s much easier than most MTs.

4. Has good set of tools. Not perfect ( see cons ) but scissors , saw , small screw driver for glasses and a file. These and the pliers are what I use most.

5. This is a high quality product from what I can tell. Leatherman has a good warranty and reputation.

6. American made.

Cons

1. Belt pouch sucks. Cheap nylon non mole pouch. No way to disconnect from
Belt without removing belt. It might be ok for a holster but I’m not worried about my multi tool being taken by a bad guy.

2. One handed opening is really for only a few of the tools.

3. File could be better. I really wish they had replaced the serrated blade with a 3 sided file like my SOG had. Having a 2 blades and a saw doesn’t make sense to me.

4. Extra small screwdriver sucks. Again I’d like a better one , maybe with a screw in tip with Phillips on one side and standard on the other. And maybe a little smaller. I don’t know if I can fix eyeglasses with this one. It should work for key fobs however. A stand alone micro screwdriver would be easy if they ditched the serrated blade and moved the file to its place.

Another option would be in the scales like they do with the tweezers on the Swiss army style leatherman.

5. It’s kind of expensive.

All in all I’d give this an 8 out of 10 for this size MT.

Best deal on 18650 batteries?

The biker

Back on January 9th, a group of HELL'S ANGELS, South Carolina bikers were riding east on 378 , after eating a large greasy pastrami sandwich with coleslaw Coney island fries and many pickles and of course how can you forget the doctor Brown's cream soda, were riding and farting on their Harley's, when all of a sudden they saw a girl about to jump off the Pee Dee River Bridge. So they stopped.

Phil, their leader, a big burly man of 53, gets off his Harley, walks through a group of gawkers, past the State Trooper who was trying to talk her down off the railing, and says "Hey Baby . . . whatcha doin' up there on that railin'?

She says tearfully, "I'm going to commit suicide!

While he didn't want to appear "sensitive," Phil also didn't want to miss this "be-a-legend" opportunity either so he asked, "Well, before you jump, Babe . . . why don't you give ol' zPhil here your best last kiss?"

So, with no hesitation at all, she leaned back over the railing and did just that . . . and it was a long, deep, lingering kiss followed immediately by another even better one.

After they breathlessly finished, Phil gets a big thumbs-up approval from his biker-buddies, the onlookers, and even the State Trooper, and then says, "Wow! That was the best kiss I have ever had! That's a real talent you're wasting there, Sugar Shorts. You could be famous if you rode with me. Why are you committing suicide?"

"My parents don't like me dressing up like a girl."

It's still unclear whether she jumped or was pushed.

IF I had known THEN, what I know now...

WE ALL look back on life and see other paths we could have taken.
and
while I have had pretty good life, a wife who loves me and kids who don't hate me... and am retired and living in the north...and I got to experience things that most men dream about having that kind of experience, BUT...

I look back and if I knew then what I know now,
I would have continued on with my flying, got more tickets and would have wound up in ALaska flying the bush... and understand I would never have had my wonderful wife and kids...
and
Might have had an ALaska accident some where along the way, maybe not, but I know if I had they still would have found me with a big smile on my face.

Over the years in LE I took a sort of nonscientific poll of lawyers I came to know.
When I asked them that question, and finished "Would you still have gone to law school and become a lawyer?" Better than 70% of them said "NO", they never would have gone. BUT, they had invested all that money and time and just couldn't bring themselves to leave. Lots of regrets..

Anyone else got a hindsight life choice they would have taken had they known?

ANYONE ELSE have or had a soft side camper?

I have had BIG and small hard side,
had big and small trailers, never had a soft side..
until now.

Just picked up this 2015 Palimino 550 soft side. They are made for 1/2 ton shorter bed trucks.

Not sure why other than an itch I needed to scratch, and I like the idea of the smaller profile and lighter weight so I can carry it on the 1500 instead of needing a bigger truck.

Anyone have any suggestions or heads up I should be aware of that are peculiar to soft side campers.?

What I found appealing about the deal,
electric jacks, NEVER gonna have those blankety crank ups again.
came with a solar panel system. remotes for everything and extremely well taken care of.

30-06 break open

The shooting world is full of inexpensive bolt action rifles now. You can probably find a bolt gun as cheap or cheaper than a single shot rifle. Last year I bought a Ruger American rifle in 243 because I had over 200 rounds left over from another 243 I sold.

This has been a very good rifle for the $275 I paid for it NIB. Worth every penny. I am not that fond of the plastic magazine but it works. And extras are stupid expensive for what they are. But that is the only down side to the gun and thats not much. And its a hell of a lot better than the cheap savage bolt action I bought with what felt like a rubber stock it was so flimsy.

But if you find one of the H&R/Handi rifles they are shooters. I have one in 223 that will shoot bug hole groups at 100 yards.

Knowing what things cost

Had a conversation yesterday with my elderly mother-in-law about being frugal, buying things on sale, and so on. She noted a story from years past when a friend was waiting for a coat to go on sale. The friend kept waiting, hoping it wouldn't be sold until there was a sale. Suddenly, a sale! The friend went to the store only to be disappointed: they had marked up the price so much that the "sale" price was actually higher than it had been.

This got me to thinking about prepping, stocking things, and so on.

I believe one of the harder things for newbie preppers to know is what things cost. There are just so many things we want to buy--and how do we know if it's a good price or not? Just because something is "on sale" doesn't mean it's a good price--it might just be a situation like my mother-in-law's friend above.

Knowing what things cost also means you aren't as easily talked into buying something.

The flip side is if you know what things normally cost, when you see something you need on sale, recognizing the price is great, you can jump on it.

So part of the equation is having a list of things and prices you need, or a mental one, so that if you see a deal, you KNOW it's a deal, and it's time to pounce.

In this day and age, it's not that hard to comparison shop, using Amazon or other internet sources to see what "normal" prices might be. Overpaying should be a rare thing, unless necessity demands a purchase.

**********************

Newbies also sometimes make the mistake of buying things that should be delayed while they don't have enough food, water, etc.

But sometimes, if you know what a good price is, you almost have to take advantage of a sale. Things like walkie-talkies should never be first on a newbie prepper's list, but what if a pair which normally costs $29.99 is suddenly on sale for $8.99 at a going-out-of-business sale?

I'd have a hard time turning that down.

So the message to newbie preppers is this: know what things cost so you know a deal when you see it. Have a list of "wants" and "needs" along with what their normal prices are so if you run across a deal you can grab it. Keep focusing on the necessities (food, water, defense, hygiene, heat/light/cooking fuel, first aid/medical), but if a screaming deal presents itself, you know it, and can take advantage.

And strive to make sure you have some excess cash to be able to do that.

Doing this will make your money go further, and who has money to waste that could have been saved? Not me. Nor anybody else I know.

NPR regarding Coeur d' Alene, ID

Listened to NPR regarding white supremacists moving to Sandpoint and Coeur d Alene, Idaho. Evidently some folks are intimidated and some feel protected.

In the 90's I had planned on moving to NE Washington state until I learned that the American Nazi Party might move there. According to NPR, at that time they had hoped to make northern Idaho a special place for white supremacists, because it was such an ultra-conservative area. Luckily they were not successful. Glad I moved to another Idaho location, still ultra conservative and filled with guns, but so far no complete wackos.

U.S. takes possession of Alaska
On October 18, 1867, the U.S. formally takes possession of Alaska after purchasing the territory from Russia for $7.2 million, or less than two cents an acre. The Alaska purchase comprised 586,412 square miles, about twice the size of Texas, and was championed by William Henry Seward, the enthusiastically expansionist secretary of state under President Andrew Johnson.

Biden's Gun Plaform

That's also the thing that torques me the most about these never-Trumpers on the right

They will vote against the ideology on the right just because of the fact they don't like Trump

They are traitors to our cause and they aren't true conservatives. Regardless of whether or not I like Trump, we do stand for the same things

Truth be known, I hate all politicians but its the conservative values that I vote for...

A vote against Trump may as well be a vote for the liberal looney left and their socialistic/communistic ideology

I didn't read your link, didn't need to as I know full well what Biden's agenda is when it comes to the 2nd amendment

Mind to mind, Love to love

“ In the secret of my mind, teach me wisdom “ O Lord.

The quickest way to enter deeply into the spiritual life, is to constantly tell God you love Him. Even if you feel nothing, love is an act of Will that proceeds from your mind, and not one act of love is forgotten by The Father who loves us in every moment.

The purity of The Father’s Love goes beyond any human love we have known or experienced in this life. When it channels through you, it raises your soul to eternal heights that is completely fatal if experience for long enough, all else is forgotten even heartbeat and breathing.

“Jesus replied: "'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.'”

Receive The Father’s Love and acknowledge it, it showers on you unseen in every instant, and return it to The Father with your ‘ I love you ‘ attached to it.
This will return The Father’s Love with the same force and power that it was sent out with. This will give The Father the Love He deserves, send a shockwave of Love back to The Father with His own Divine power behind it.
This is the delight of God when He first made man, that a tiny creature could love Him like He Loves. This is the image and likeness of Love which constantly communicates between us and The Father.

Become a new star in the spiritual constellation radiating Divine Light back to The Father.
As Adam said ‘ At last, bone of my bone and flesh of my flesh ‘ , God would have said at last Love of my Love.
As created images of God, we must reflect back all we receive from God.

Sleep Joe Endorses Allowing Children to Pursue Sex Change Therapy

I see genuine enthusiasm on his face an in his voice.

He probably thinking about all the boys that could be changed into young girls. Rumor has it that Joe likes young girls.

There is a reason why society discriminates against certain behaviors. We didn't hear the question, but if that gal has a 8-year-old child who wants to change his or her sex, it's because the mother is pushing the child to do so. It's not discrimination that creates the 50:50 chance of suicide with transgenders. It's the dissatisfaction with the results. They are not likely to become what they think they will become.

Hello

I Need Your Best Greenhouse Ideas

My husband and I are building a greenhouse. We would love any ideas on how to maximize this new building. I have never had a greenhouse before and therefore I “don’t know what I don’t know”.

It will be 10 ft. by 12 ft. It will be attached to our small chicken barn that is 12 ft. by 20 ft. It will be attached to the east side of the barn, so have a solid west wall. The north wall is 12 ft. long. The east wall is 10 ft. long. The south wall is 12 ft. long. The door to the greenhouse will be inside the barn on the west side. The walls are 7 ft. high with highest pitch point in the roof being 10’3”. There are two vent windows in the roof.

Water will be available via a hose from the house. It will have electricity.

I live in the mountain west at 6,000 feet.

I have an extremely handy husband who can build anything wood related.

We are both in late 50’s and retired. I need the greenhouse to be user friendly in our later years.

Our garden is 30 ft. by 70 ft. We have 12 dwarf fruit trees.

Any ideas and advise would be greatly appreciated! I know that this is the right place to go to get that great advice!

Thank you in advance for all comments.

Last minute gathering plan?

Do you have last minute gathering plan?

Since I am somewhat prepped I can avoid the masses that will be gathering stuff from grocery stores.

My gathering plan is focused on useful things that may not be available for some time.

Department stores – Socks & underwear
Auto Parts Stores – 12v deep cycle batteries, oil/fluids for my vehicles
Tractor Supply/Farm and Fleet… - Sturdy garden carts/wagons, 5 gallon plastic containers, rechargeable batteries
Along the roads – Solar panels used to charge traffic signals and signage.
Etc, etc, etc… - Etc, etc, etc...

50 Yard Zero vs Close in Accuracy in an AR Rifle

OK guys I'm a bit confused here.

I'm shooting a 1X red dot out of an AR-15. A lot of what I read says do a 50 yard Zero but here is my question.

If you have a 50 yard zero and you shoot at 25 yards...the bullet will hit 1 to 1.5 Low. So at 15 yards is it what? 2.5 low?

If you are really close let's say 5-10 yards and you have to take a precise shot and hit within 1" do I still need a 50 yard zero....and what not a 25 yard zero?

A 1X is a fighting optic....so wouldn't you want all the accuracy to be 50 yards and under?

Thoughts?

Contagion (2011) movie review

Welp, in 2011 Contagion director and screenwriters and those involved had a heck of a crystal ball.

Short version is that for those of you who cannot get enough of the Covid19 mess, sit down to 90+ minutes of Contagion which has been the basic script for our 2020 experience. If you want a pretty good Hollywood interpretation that played out remarkably like reality then I recommend it. Strong and surprisingly real/accurate plot, strong acting, great cast, excellent sets and location. Overall a very good film.

Actors: Lawrence Fishburn, Matt Damon, Kate Winslet, Gweneth Paltrow, Jude Law, & Brian Cranson all turn in excellent performances.

I saw this movie many years ago and had a copy but it just seemed too heavy to watch again until today since, ya know, we've lived it.

SPOILERS BELOW.

The story centers around several main characters. There is patient zero who comes in contact with a butcher who is carrying the illness from some unclean freshly butchered swine which had come in contact with a diseased bat. In China. She spreads it all around China, then returns to the US where she spreads it around.

The WHO and CDC spring into action with more competence than we experienced. Terms like "social distancing" and explanations of sneezing, touching, etc. are given and we see a lot of mask wearing.

We watch as society quickly devolves, schools and public locations shut and are vacant, and looting, violence, hoarding, and mayhem ensue.

We see the race for a vaccine and much speculation and rumors floating around about conspiracies, corruption, etc. as death numbers skyrocket. When a vaccine is developed there is a lottery on who gets it.

Overall, it's a film I paid little attention to as an interesting movie when I saw it many years ago, but now having lived it to an extent it was remarkable in the accuracy and details that we have all now likely seen in real time or on actual footage.

Details and predictions include cell phone videos of public deaths on a bus or elsewhere, state officials secreting people away, scarcity of resources, shortages, travel bans, runs on resources, discussions on profiteering on pharmaceuticals, vacant areas like roads and airports, shut schools and businesses, looting, robbery, violence, home invasions, panic, etc.

It is a very well done film. Strong acting, directing, cast, and plot with excellent international backdrops and moral issues to wrestle with and some conspiracies therein. I recommend it.

Honey containers

I was interested in some long term storage of rice, beans and so on in mylar. I thought I'd add some other things that can store well to help with variety, and my understanding is that honey (at least pure honey) doesn't go bad.

As I looked at the available products on the shelves at the store, I wondered what about how the containers would hold up over the course of 10 or even 20 years. I don't currently can so I would have to choose what was available... some were in various plastic containers, others in glass ones with metal lids, would it be better to actually repackage it into mylar directly? Does it really matter?

I have some comments, but I will hold them until later.

When can the SCOTUS act?

The bigger concern is that if we have a a congress and president willing to do this, the Supreme Court would have already been compromised or dismantled in some way. There would be no recourse (peacefully, anyway).

The thing is the SCOTUS is much more long term than the congress and president. The president does a four year term and then can be re-elected for another four years so the president can do a total of eight years before having to retire. As for congress, house members do two year terms and senate members do six years. Although there is no limit as to how many terms they can serve they do have to be re-elected whenever their terms expire in order to stay in congress.

With the SCOTUS on the other hand, once you're in you're in for life or until you retire, you don't have to keep being re-elected or re-appointed after an x number of years in order to stay in SCOTUS. So therefore even if we do end up with an extremely corrupt congress and president, they most likely will not have chosen the current SCOTUS as SCOTUS justices are much more long term.

Anyway, just in case the SCOTUS is compromised as you suggest or of the SCOTUS happens to be corrupt along with the congress and president, that is the purpose of the 2A which identifies the Right To Keep And Bear Arms. With The Right To Keep And Bear Arms, if all else fails the people can revolt and take military action against a corrupt government, it serves as a final check and balance.

The federal deficit balloons to $3.1 trillion - in one fiscal year

Not sure how long this can be sustained.

https://www.nytimes.com/2020/10/16/b...?smid=tw-share

The federal budget deficit soared to a record $3.1 trillion in the 2020 fiscal year, official figures showed on Friday, as the coronavirus pandemic fueled enormous government spending while tax receipts plunged as households and businesses struggled with economic shutdowns.

The shortfall underscores the long-term economic challenge facing the United States as it tries to emerge from the sharpest downturn since the Great Depression. Interest rates are low — meaning it costs less for the government to borrow money — but the ballooning deficit is already complicating policy choices as Republicans resist another large stimulus package, citing concerns about the U.S. debt burden.

The deficit — the gap between what the U.S. spends and what it earns through tax receipts and other revenue — was $2 trillion more than what the White House’s budget forecast in February. It was also three times as large as the $984 billion deficit in the 2019 fiscal year.

Trump's advisers brace for loss, point fingers

here is the skinny on the site you linked to:

Quote:

Funded by / Ownership

In the summer of 2016, Axios secured $10 million in financing led by Lerer Hippeau Ventures. Backers include media-partner NBC News; Emerson Collective, the investment vehicle of Laurene Powell Jobs, the widow of Steve Jobs; Greycroft Partners; and David and Katherine Bradley, owners of Atlantic Media. In November 2017, Axios said that it had raised an additional $20 million. WndrCo, a media-and-technology firm founded by DreamWorks CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg, is a new investor in the round. Axios is owned by Axios Media Group.

I believe it to be a biased story that is trying to elicit an emotional response, which in and of it's very nature is a division of Propaganda, and therefore unreliable.

JRC 9mm, Perfect little Bug Out Carbine?

Pretty much any long gun you choose for bugging out on foot is a compromise, but a 9mm carbine seems like a compromises everything, except extreme close range suppressed against human threats, and I am not pretending to be part of SEAL team six.

Not much good at moderate distances. Not much good against larger dangerous animals. Not easy to retrive from a pack and engage a close threat.

Portable Jump Starter ???????

Default Portable Jump Starter ???????

I have Model PSG -2212 jump starter, I don't know exactly how old it is.
I bought it new and charge it up once in a while, it has a sealed lead acid battery. Just found out the battery is replaceable, I believe it has to be at
least 10 years old. Two questions arise, is a lead sealed battery that age,
still reliable is there any definitive test I can do to check if its up to the task?
And what type of battery should I put in, as a replacement.
I have viewed online Gel Batteries, sealed lead acid, Lithium-ion.
I imagine there is nothing this device can't use, the lithium-ion battery
is 156.00 $ price tag being the most expensive buy far. Is it a good Idea to put that type of battery, will it out outlast all other buy far ? Or money wasted,
buy another sealed lead acid battery, for 35 --- 40 Dollars and KISS?

Can anybody recommend a decent freezer alarm? My wife has a bad habit of not closing the freezer door. I woke up this morning to find the freezer door partially open and some food defrosted. I need an alarm that will sound after a few minutes to let me know that the door was left open.

Worst President In History

Worst four so far, I expect this ranking could potentially be bumped around in the future as even worse ones come to pass.

1. Woodrow Wilson
2. George W Bush
3. Lyndon Johnson
4. Barrack Obama

I have no doubt if either Hillary Clinton, John McCain, or Mitt Romney had been president that any of them would have easily made, and bumped the ranking of, this list.

Default Actinic Keratoses

I have tried flourouricil and SunSpot ES to treat actinic keratoses on my scalp but the spots linger. I read on the NCBI website that topical melatonin might have some success. I have been dissolving a couple of 3 mg melatonin tablets in a few drops of DMSO and applying topically twice per day with some promising results. A couple of spots have returned to smooth skin after several weeks of treatment.

Email Censorship????

Here's the story....

I have several siblings, all of us in our 50's to 60's. We are all conservative Republicans.

I am subscribed to many news feeds and when articles strike a tone with me, I share the info with my brothers and sisters and always share the URL link.

We have been doing this back and forth for 3-4 years. Not once did an email from any of us, to family individuals or the family group, find its way to SPAM or be bounced.

Last week I sent an email to my siblings.... an article that referenced a taboo topic on this board in regard to the SCOTUS nominee with the URL. By far it wasn't the first time we have shared such info with each other.

My younger sister's Apple "ME" email address, sent me a bounce message....saying....

"This email has been blocked to the sender."

She is the only one with a ME email address. (Apple)

I immediately called my sister and she confirmed, that she had never received the email...it wasn't even in SPAM. So I sent it to her again, but only to her directly.... not the other siblings. Once again, she did not receive the email... Then I sent it gain, and again, and again.... Finally by the 3rd time it made it to her SPAM and the 4th time to her inbox.

She has promised that she has not changed anything with her security settings.

I just wonder if this is an example of Big Brother Tech, ie. Apple, monitoring her email via Artificial Intelligence and is making the decision to "protect her from certain messaging"?

To me it is one thing to do their censoring of public messaging, like Twitter. But to interrupt the delivery of a private email from a brother to a sister?????

Getting DB error when trying to load 2 threads

I had just come from reading those threads and they loaded fine for me. The problem may be on your end. Try clearing your cache and cookies then restarting your browser.

I've been getting odd glitches for the last couple days where I'll click, say, my PMs or something, and someone's profile will load, or a thread will open. They've been doing some work on the site getting ready for the changeover. I think that's behind some of the oddball glitches in the last week or so. I've had a few DB errors too, but it was about a week back for me.

How to change all your vehicle's fluids (and a couple new gadgets)

There are a couple cool new tools the guy shows.
One is a special hollow bolt that lets you fill a sealed transition without overfilling it.

The other is a no spill funnel kit for filling your antifreeze.

Autozone just sent this guy's video out along with their latest advertisement.

Also a good reminder, it is a lot cheaper to change the fluids than to wait for something to fail.

COVID-19 hoarders. Any lessons learned?

I stock up on important things when they are plentiful and relatively cheap so I have them when they become scarce and don't have to pay high prices. Also, I like to diversify my investments and one part of that diversification is to invest in things with intrinsic value, things like nonperishable food and guns and ammo being high on the list. And as I do with all investments, I buy when the cost is low.

The panic caused a big drop in the stock market, and I took the opportunity to buy a bunch of good stock at clearance sale prices. It's all looking really good now, and should only get better (unless the communists win big in the coming election). So to all those who took part in the panicked selloff, thanks, but I do hope you learn your lesson about letting the smiling liberals on TV influence your behavior.

I did screw up on a couple of things though:
1, I thought I had plenty of reloading supplies but I underestimated just how long a shortage might last. I still have a lot of ammo, but I'm running out of my reloaded ammo.

2, It hadn't occurred to me that canning lids would become scarce, so I thought I might run out of them (they are available, but at outrageous prices). Turned out though my garden didn't do as well as expected so I had plenty.

Another thing this situation shows us is that hoarders are more prevalent and more selfish than we might have thought, and they will cheat their neighbor if they can. This says much about human nature, and tells us what we might expect from people in a real survival situation.

For example, you see the canning lids I mentioned selling on Amazon for way more than they normally sell for. It looks to me like there are probably people going into stores and buying every one of them as soon as any are stocked, and then selling them for a huge profit. This is an unethical practice called profiteering.

I would not put anything beyond people who do things like this. If food was scarce they would grab and hoard any of it they could get their hands on, and if you didn't want to pay their exorbitant price for it (or couldn't), they would let you and your family starve, even while food sat in their garage being eaten by rats.

I don't think this applies to all people by the way, or even most. But it does most certainly apply to enough to be a big problem for the rest of us.

OPinions on the Hornady Lock-N-Load Classic Reloading Kit

I got started in reloading about 3 years ago. The Hornady kit is the one I bought after much online research and talking to a few old-timers. I've no complaints. The dies are super handy with the bushing set up. As a single stage press, it's slow going if you are a high volume shooter. However, it does the job and Hornady sells everything you need to slowly accessorize for your individual needs and as budget allows. I mainly reload handgun, and some 30.06.

I'm not saying it's better than the RCBS, or any other brand, but it does what it is advertised to do, at a relatively low price, without shopping for individual components.
