Memorial Day. What It Is. And Not.

That may be what it is meant to be, but this is what it actually is, in practice:

- A 3 or 4 day weekend for no apparent reason

- A chance to clog the highways driving to a cookout you don't actually want to attend, hosted by people you can't stand, featuring foods that make you sick

- A bunch of drunks causing accidents, despite the police working overtime and buying ad time to warn that they will be out in force

If we're not going to honor the intent of the holiday, we should just repeal it.
