Pre-book tickets, have cash available in case of blackout, carry passport at all times, know how to get to the NZ embassy, learn as much of the language as possible, learn about the culture, learn how to bribe (if its that kind of country), have a mobile that works on the local network, note hospital locations, read govt travel advice.
