As you all know I'm a Quality Engineer. Part of my job is to design, maintain and audit our Quality Management System (QMS). There's a nifty group of people called the International Standards Orgainzation (ISO) and they have a plethora of standards out there to certify yourself with.
Well, I'm currently writing our quality manual for ISO 9001:2015 which is the latest standard for our machine shop. Imagine my surprise when I read part of Section 7:
Quote:
The organization shall determine, provide and maintain the environment necessary fo the operation of its processes and to achieve conformity of products and services. NOTE: A suitable environment can be a combination of human and physical factors such as:
- social (eg: non-discriminatory, calm, non-confrontational)
- psychological (eg: stress-reducing, burnout prevention, emotionally protective)
- physical (eg: temperature, heat, humidity, light, airflow, hygiene, noise)

I showed this to my boss, who is the owner, and he just about crapped a brick when he read that. Being the dutiful employee that I am, I'll be writing up a procedure for the creation, monitoring and maintenance of a safe-space that includes crayons and play-doh
