What crazy fool installed CAPTCHA on the board to screw with users??
I'd have to guess that whoever thought this would be a good idea is someone who read the Google advertising about how great CAPTCHA is but never actually had to deal with wading through screen after screen of nonsense trying to guess which pictures some juvenile in India or Pakistan or wherever Google farms out the work thought matched some term. If you have to deal with CAPTCHA very often you quickly find that the kids who classify the pictures that Google uses don't all count them the same way. The two most obvious examples of pictures that are classified differently by different kids are the "Which Squares Contain Streetsigns" and "Which Squares Contain Vehicles" where sometimes only squares that are filled by the item are counted and sometimes squares with just a sliver of the item are counted. If you don't guess the same way that the kid classified the picture, then you're "wrong" and you have to try another screen. Sometimes you need to go through two or three screens even when there is absolutely no doubt about the right answers to each screen - because sometimes CAPTCHA simply requires more than one right response.
And the other half of the screen used here -- with the nonsense about how can I prevent this from happening again -- is absolute total nonsense, telling users to scan their computer or to get their work IT department to scan the entire work network for malware. Here's a hint -- CAPTCHA has no idea what software is or isn't on any computer or especially on any network connecting to this board. Neither CAPTCHA nor anything else on this board can scan the user's computers, so the board running CAPTCHA has nothing to do with anything on the user's computer or network - it is simply something that the administrators here decided would be something to do.
W t f ? ? ? Captcha??
