Not a survivalist, but I'd like to survive what may be coming

There is Ranger Pudding. I am not sure that is gourmet.

If you are talking stored foods then no, not really. The idea of stored foods is that they keep you alive until you can get a reliable food source. I store a lot of regular canned goods and canned good generally are plain. I also store a lot of spices, condiments and such that give a little flavor to the stored foods. I can make a decent meal with these items but it is still canned goods.

If you lead a more independent life style as part of your preps you have a lot of opportunities. For example if you keep goats and process the meat and make cheese then you have some great ingredients to make a nice gourmet meal and something unusual.

While in the US people don't eat goats as a major part of the diet in the rest of the world it accounts for around 90% of the red meat consumed world wide. They are efficient little meat animals. There are thousands of recipes for gourmet goat dishes on line.

This is just one example. You can also grow unusual vegetable (unusual in the US anyway) in a garden or fruits and veggies that are normally expensive in season and unobtainable out of season (say fresh blueberries)

Let's block ads! (Why?)
