4 million to run out of water within months

Cape Town, South Africa, is in the midst of its worst drought in a century.

Next week people will be asked to reduce water consumption to 50L per person per day.

As of April 12 the city’s water will be shut off and people will have to go to one of 200 water stations for their 25L per day allocation.

I remember earlier this century (can’t believe I just said that), we had a nine year drought. Our water situation was dire and we had only a few months of water storage left, and this for a city of over 2 million people.

Thankfully the drought broke with some record flooding and we haven’t had to worry about water for the last 8 years.

Let’s pray the same will happen for the Cape Townians.
