I’m about to pick up a ’97 Chevrolet S-10 Blazer LS, 4 door, 4wd. It has the 4.3l V-6, auto, a/c, and is bone stock with no rust (Nevada car). My father (a retired industrial mechanic) says that it needs a battery and a new fuel pump, and probably a set of tires. My wife is wanting a “bad weather” vehicle to drive 15 miles back and forth to work when the weather turns, and at $500.00 I can’t beat the price. Truck’s got around 130k on it. It’s green with a tan cloth interior. Other wise I know nothing about it except that the original owner is some hot rodder who’s apparently a little OCD about doing the maintenance on time (according to my dad).
Any thoughts on what I should look for when I go see the truck? What should I be prepared to fix right away, and what advice to what to do to it to make it ultra-reliable, and maybe a little fun?
