I just wanted to start a thread about weird malfunctions we've had with our various guns. It can be any gun, caused by anything, so long as it was weird (maybe let's add the modifier that this is not a Darkside thread, and "anything" is PG-rated).
So my weirdest was with my Beretta 92. I was training reloads, so I was just dumping my mags on the ground. It was a sandy area, but it was dry and the sand just blew off. When I'd pick them up off the ground, there was very little inside, and every few repetitions I'd take the baseplate off and empty it out.
On one set, I had just got all loaded up and was putting a full mag in my pouch and dropped it. Oh well, blow it off, put it back. So I go through the first mag no problem, switch out and get through 4 rounds before I had a stoppage. This was the first time in ~2000 rounds that my Beretta has ever had an issue, so I was naturally curious what happened and instead of tap-rack-banging, I stopped to see what the deal was.
There was a rock that had caught between the extractor groove on the cartridge and the feed lip on the magazine. The cartridge was half way out of the magazine when it happened, so the extractor was just on the rim, giving the slide control of the cartridge.
I have never seen that before, or since, and thought it was interesting.
So go to it. Weird malfunction stories.
