What are you overwintering inside?

I just repotted the offshoots of my Aloe Vera plant, (6 of them)

Only thing I can think of is keep one as a backup, and give the others away.

I might grow them over the winter to donate to the FD bennifit auction.

Is there any way I can "use them" for myself?
(Too cold to leave them outside, so it's houseplants only.)

I typed the above and then changed the title to not be aloe centric...
Most years I grow fresh basil on the windowsill, now I'm thinking about what else might want to do....
(Since this wasn't built to be a house, I have extremely limited windowsill space. Perhaps I'll FINALLY set up a 12V grow kit for lettuce and such.)
I got a late start on my fall garden, so I'll probably give cold frames a shot.

My spring carrots (for some reason the only way I can get even a halfway decent carrot is to pick the spring carrots in fall.) And kale are still alive.

Eta: starting back when I was functioning in the airstream I'd grow leaf lettuce in a ~12x18" plastic tray (poked holes in the bottom and set it inside a 2nd with a couple rocks between them.)
Got 2-3 bowls of lettuce a week that way.
Didn't do it last winter, but do most.

Let's block ads! (Why?)
