Great rifles! I think youre going to enjoy it. Good shooters and a lot of fun to shoot to boot.

Looks like yours is in real nice shape. Ours weren't near that nice when we first got them.

We got ours back in the 90's when they first came in and were going for around $100 and under, depending on where you got them and the shape they were in.

They were my kids first centerfire rifles, and we all still have them.

Ive always found the chrome Mauser strippers work best, followed by the blued or non park versions. The parkerized ones would be my last choice, but they work too.

Leave the bolt straight. Fool with it a little while and youll see why.

If you cant find a front sight tool, you can make one from a cheap flat screwdriver. You will need something to adjust the sights, and thats all done up front.

This is one I made....

The sights in general work like HK rifle sights found on the G3/91's.

This gives you the setting...

The big notch and the whole front "globe" are your "CQB" sight, the smaller notch in the bottom and front post your 0-100M "fine" sight. The rest is pretty much self-explanatory.

Dont mess with that little screw on the rear sight, theres a spring and little ball bearing "detent" under it that holds the aperture settings. It flies out to wherever things that fly out go, never to return. Ask me how I know.

I made up a bunch of dummies for the kids to practice with when using the strippers and working the bolt. Big help getting everything down.

You can also slip a nickel under the follower so the bolt stop doesnt engage, if you just want to practice working the bolt.

This one is mine
