Monuments and Statues Are a Form of Speech

Monuments and statues are every bit as much a form of free speech as protest. No one is perfect. A statue or monument is not a tribute to those imperfections but the good, honor, courage of those imperfect people performing in extraordinary times.

One cannot participate in protesting, defacing, tearing down, or causing the removal of monuments and statues and say they are exercising their free speech.

They are in fact doing just the opposite. Look at the protesters and what are they doing? At best they are wasting their own time and effort. At worst they are part of an infinite continuum of obstruction and destruction.

Imagine what they could have accomplished with that effort. How many needy children could have been helped with reading or math? How many homes for the low income could have been repaired? How many old, sick, and lonely could have been comforted? How many disabled could have been helped?

Show me a protester regardless of cause or of his obstruction, looting, or vandalism and I will show you a do nothing done nothing.

Let's block ads! (Why?)
