There is no requirement that President Trump release his tax returns to the public. This ruling is about a subpoena issued by the State of New York in connection with a criminal investigation. Most likely tax fraud and money laundering.

The President's former attorney, Mike Cohen, testified that President Trump had a habit of underestimating the value of his properties when filing his taxes while overestimating the value of his properties when using them as collateral for loans.

They also may want to check to see if he claimed the $130K he paid his favorite porn star as a business expense.
