Was the debate a snapshot of today's America?

To me the debate was a sad commentary on our times because it was an accurate representation of America today: the two sides have no common ground, they have no respect for each other, and they don't like each other; they don't even speak the same language anymore.

Maybe next time they'll start throwing punches at each other.

The debate was also a microcosm of America today because it featured the liberal press and the liberal political class ganging up on a loyal American, in an attempt to give political control to the liberal cult.

I remember reading in a book set in feudal Japan (probably the book Shogun but it was so long ago I don't remember for sure); the book was fiction but it was supposed to be well-researched and accurate in so far as what the culture was like. There was a battle in the book and it was pointed out that while the Japanese were always very courteous, just before the battle began the two Samurai forces would be hurling the most vile insults at each other.

Presumably this makes it easier for them to kill each other. This appears to be the stage we are in now.

Most of the hate comes from the left, but hate begets hate. It shouldn't, and the Christians among us will hopefully avoid falling into that trap. But many will not, and among those many are all who have rejected God; this means some patriots and all or virtually all liberals. And history tells us what mass hate can lead to.

While Christians are not likely to fall into the trap of hating this enemy though, they will still defend America from the aggression of that enemy.

The reason for this division is that the liberal cult has been moving slowly but surely toward a rejection of God and the worship of His enemy, along with the rejection of freedom and love of communism. It was done in a long series of steps and no step seemed very big to those in the herd, but those not in the herd didn't take any steps in those directions. So now that series of steps has moved us so far apart we can not peacefully occupy the same land.

I fear this debate is a harbinger of things to come. If the leaders chosen by each side are so antagonistic toward each other they appear to be close to a fistfight, what does that tell us America is close to?

Let's block ads! (Why?)
