A new way to control the population. Use the internet to shut down the appliances and vehicles of those who do not comply.
I know that appliances and vehicles would shut down in an EMP attack. It never occurred to me that DHS could shutdown such devices so selectively, via the internet. This article makes me think that prepping should focus on developing and maintaining devices that are not connected to the internet. I could see a scenario where the DHS shuts down the appliances of certain groups of people to force their compliance, without disturbing those who pander to the government. So off the grid also means making sure your stuff is off the internet too.
