Work on knowledge and skills, they are the lightest things to pack on your back. Actually develop the skill like catching a spark and converting it to flame instead of reading about it or watching someone on youtube do it.

Hard copies for all reference materials like: first aid, maps, foraging foods etc. are EMP proof but to heavy to carry - copies at the BOL and home is good.
