StarWars 40th anniversary May 25, 1977

40 years ago today---this film exploded on the screens to an astonished public.

It's hard to remember today, but this film was barely advertised when it came out. Unlike the uber-hype with today's blockbusters, it had a modest start with only a small amount of publicity.

I was a wide-eyed 20 year old back then. Walked into the theater with my friends, not knowing what to expect. And when that first shot of the Imperial Cruiser coming from the foreground, getting bigger and bigger and BIGGER, I knew then this was something special.

Leaving the theater 2 hours later, I LITERALLY felt I had truly been "in a galaxy far far away".

I've never had that experience again, in my life.
