I'm not one to jump on the hype band wagon. Or give any credit to a firearm till it's proven it's self for a few years.
So I've looked at a few police trade in Glocks in 40 S&W. Now I know 40 is expensive and 10mm is better. But the price point is starting to get real appealing. @ sub $400 and falling. Now I'm a 9mm fan. And love my 45 acp.
That being said. I've also looked into getting a 40 to 9 conversion barrel. To basically get the glock 17 I am looking for. At half the price.
Is this a good idea? How good are conversion barrels?
I'm mostly wanting to get a glock to practice my gun smithing on them as they are the most popular pistol out there. I thought about the polymer 80 route. But after adding it all up it comes out to about the same (if not more) than the above mentioned.
