Chris Reeve knock off sebenza

Ever since holding a real Chris Reeve Sebenza knife, I've wanted one. I couldn't believe the quality and craftsmanship that went into it.

Of course the $400.00 price tag scared me off. I've been saving, but I figured its a pocket knife, and at that cost, I'd never leave the house with it, never mind use it.

A few years have passed, and I found one at a local flea market. It was in perfect condition, and had everything. The box, leather case, paperwork, etc. Seller is asking $65.00 and I end up getting him down to $50. I think I've scored the knife of a lifetime. Low and behold, its a repro.

I go online, and sure enough, there are video's and sites dedicated to these fakes. Unless your an expert, or have a real Sebenza in your hand while looking at the repro, the differences are mild. So mild in fact, that my repro has some of the more obvious tip off's that its a repro corrected to make it more authentic.

I ended up talking with a friend who is really into knives, and he believes the repro is worth the 50 bucks. Like he said, if you show it to anyone, they will believe you have a Chris Reeve, and you won't mind using it since you only dropped the short money on it. I checked internet pricing, and wholesale on the repro is about $37.50. I guess you could say I paid MSRP on the repro.

Lesson learned, but would still love a real one! Buyer beware!
