How did you come to pick your survival cartridge?

well, first of all with rifle calibers i just look at 7.62x39, 5.56, and 5.45x39, and which one of these i use is determined by the rifles i prefer, generally AKs, so right now my go to rifle is 7.62x39, but i'll be switching soon to something smaller, more lighter, and more accurate, 5.45 maybe, 5.56 if i decide to switch to AR.

with handgun rounds 9mm has as much energy as 45acp but costs less and is available in more weapons.. people perceive an extra 25-50flbs extra they get with something more oddball like 357 sig is going to net them some kind of advantage, but it isnt

while some people maybe believe its worth spending 2x or 3x as much on ammo to go with something like 6.8SPC or 6.5 grendel or some other wonder cartridge, i think youre better off going with less expensive, more plentiful ammunition, putting that money towards more of it, and using that increased stockpile to practice more..

5.56 + a lot of practice > 6.5G with a little practice, and less expensive ammo = more practice
