if he's moving across your front, cause you can't tell how fast he's walking. His kill zone is about 9" wide. from the side like that. A 308 starts aa 168 gr hpbt game bullet at say 2500 fps from a 20" barrel, has a BC of .355 and is down below 1600 fps at 500 yds. Rough average velocity, then is 2150 fps. 500 yds is 1500 ft, so the bullet is in flight for almost 3/4 second. A man who's walking at 3 mph is covering 4.5 fps. so 3/4 second would require 3.4 FT of lead. What does that look like at 500 yds, eh? how much wind and mirage is there? what direction is it coming from? at what range are you zeroed? are you going to holf off or click the scope? if you zero at 500 yds, you're bullets will be striking over 2 ft high at 300 yds. What does that look like, over the head on prone man who hears your shot, drops prone and is shooting at you? Who says that there's only one? He could be in any direction from you, too. Your shot could easily call in dozens of enemies.. If he's actually moving at 2.5 mph or 3.5 mph, you''ll miss cause your amount of forward allowance is more than 9" off.
