1911 yes or no

So I can get a RIA 1911 for $350. I have a variety of handguns, but nothing in .45acp so I would need to buy ammo. I'd only get this to share something with my father in law who did 18 months in Vietnam with a 1911 and as many mags as he could carry. He hated not having ammo because his group had no resupply on missions. He hated the M16, but was bigger and a better shot so he got assigned different rifles. He likes the SKS for some reason. I think he ran into them a lot.

Every time I get a gun he likes we drink too much Jack Daniels and he tells me a God awful war story.

So I think it may be worth the price. What do you think? Worth a story?

He did some crazy stuff on the Cambodian border as a scout group seitting up fire bases with the 7th air Cav before the helicopters arrived.
