Hijacking "preferred" racial identity

I've always thought that Rachel Dolezal and Elizabeth Warren were just isolated examples of being liars. Now it just gives me a headache.

Apparently, this is a larger issue that I had initially believed, despite the defunct and never federally codified "one-drop rule."

I Won’t Support An Elizabeth Warren Presidency While She Appropriates My Identity

Quote:

...Twice as many people self-identified as Cherokee on the 2010 census than are enrolled in the three federally recognized Cherokee tribes...
I had no idea that the numbers were so conflicted, though in fairness, I'm sure that there are some individuals with a legitimate claim of indigenous ancestry, that have no desire to enroll in any tribe.

Quote:

...a white man is suing the state of Washington to grant him status as a minority business owner based on the results of his DNA test. He tested as only 6 percent Indigenous...
A DNA test said a man was (6% indian and) 4% black. Now he wants to qualify as a minority business owner.

A whole 6% Native American and 4% Black? Even under some of the various state racial codes, that number would have to be 4x more to qualify. Though its obvious to me, that he merely wishes to receive the preferential treatment of receiving lucrative contracts of the minority business owner.

And I don't even want to think about the special government programs for women. Enter Caitlyn Jenner.

Quote:

If Warren falsely claimed to be related to the queen of England or Elvis, people would dismiss her as a kook. If she falsely claimed her family members were survivors of the Holocaust, she would be admonished for appropriating and diminishing a genocide. Why are easily refuted claims to Native identity treated differently?
The answer: The politics of the left.
