Cost effective AK-47?

Eastern block AKs are what I would recommend. Stay far away from US made AKs including anything IO and Century Arms US made rifles like RAS47, C39, VSKA, etc. Century Arms and other companies import, so don’t confuse a Century import AKs are made all over the world, but my advice is to stick to the combloc rifles from Russia, Bulgarian, Romanian, etc. The Romanian made WASR10 is viewed as a decent entry level combloc AK. Make sure to know how to check for “canted sights” which is sometimes an issue.

The AK47 shoots 7.62x39. You can also get a AK74 that shoots 5.45. I have both and love both. Getting ammo for the AK74 can be a bit more challenging, so the AK47 is probably your better option.

Check out a guy name Robski, who has a website called AK Operators Union. He has lots of videos and reviews. Atlantic Firearms sell AKs (as do other websites). Most good local gun stores have AKs too, but they will be pimping what’s on their shelves.

Be careful though. Once you by one, then you’ll buy another, then more magazines, then fancy parts, optics, etc. Be forewarned.
