How far away from (fire-risk) forest do I have to live for SHTF?

I'm not entirely sure how well this applies to people like me who lives in what conventionally is regarded as low risk areas (like New Zealand) but I can only assume that it actually DOES apply.

So I'm wondering does this mean that I can't live anywhere near forest, or does it just mean that I can live wherever I just have to take more anti-wildfire precautions?
I can't really find any good info about it, but also there might be some different variables introduced into the question if the topic is post-SHTF.

Living in a forest will definatly increase your forest fire risk.

More reason to volunteer as a wildland firefighter.. good money.

none the less different areas will be more prone to fire than other areas. if you can clear land, or live in a wetland area you can reduce your fire risk...

digging ditches, trenches, making a moat if large area of land, breakwalls, back burn prepositioning. Fires are incredibly powerful. If there are big enough dense enough forest for crown fires then it is a dangerous area.

Derooting and infilling areas with gravel might help just too many factors. creating a land that is fire hardened isn't imposible.

Much the same as creating an area that has a very high fire rating is possible... the best bet is building underground. having your air system able to be shut down and run off of backup air supply or simply shut down evacuate and return after the fire.

its easily possible but forests do burn from forest fire. Its not that it will be highly likely, but some areas have increasing risk over time, other climate areas will be subjected to increase rainfall.

bear in mind though, its not only forests that burn.. grassland burns..
scrub burns..... cities burn...

the bottom line though is that in a SHTF.. resources will likely be stretched that is why being in an area with a good volunteer or strong firefighting can be of use.

none the less yeah its a risk but they can only happen in one area about once every so often.

again building underground is the safest option.

if you can build your outer walls with mud/clay.. as it will harden with fire... makes it even more versatile after a fire.

do some research, here is a jump off point supplied by google
