I keep a Zero degree sleeping bag in the back of my SUV all winter long. I got stuck in a ditch on a snowy back road in my early 20's, and had to spend most of the night and early morning in my truck. This was before cellphones became prevalent. Finally, at around 3am, my father came looking for me, knowing which roads I would have taken to get to my destination. I didn't have anything but a couple of carhart coats with me at the time. It was a cold night. That sleeping bag I now carry with me in the winter would have made my stranded situation much more comfortable.
