Lots of my chickens dying

Anyone else having a bad year?

I started the year with 56 birds and i am down to 40. Two cohorts, the older is 4 or 5 years old; the younger is 18 months, and I believe most of the deaths are the older birds.

I have them in a permanent coop, and I am wondering if they are getting overwhelmed by internal parasites or something. I put out extra water buckets and set up large feeders earlier this year. They have good shade during the day, so they should not be suffering heat stress. It has been a strange year. It has rained almost every afternoon for two months.
