Leather Boots Needed for Rattlesnakes

I hike and backpack in an area where there are Timber Rattlers and have encounter two very large ones in the past several weeks. I do have Turtleskin gaiters but need to have adequate boots underneath.

On the Snake Guardz wesbite it says to "Wear With Good Quality Leather Boot". I've looked at leather boots and some are 2mm thick while others are 2.8mm. I wish there was more direction given by snake-protecting equipment companies regarding what an adequate leather boot is.
