crack in oil pan bung hole weld---can I fix it?

My car oil pan has developed a leak. The leak is by the oil drain hole "bung". The drain plug screws into the "bung", and the bung is welded to the oil pan. The crack is in the weld.

This pan would be very difficult to replace. I was wondering about some ideas on how to fix this.

Would dabbing epoxy putty on the weld be an option? I know I would have to be sure to get all grease and oil off first.

The pan is steel.
