Cranberry beans ???.

Never used them but I did a bit of google-fu.

https://www.borlotti.com/

Also called borlotti beans, they are shell beans. They are an old world bean popular in the Iberian and Italian regions. Searching with "borlotti" should get you some recipes.

I suspect they last like most beans do when dried for mylar packing. So far I've only seen pintos being complained about not lasting as long as they should. I'm beginning to think that because of the great amount of pintos sold that they are force grown to meet the high demand or a special cultivar used that grows abundantly for market, but has trouble with dried storage. Or maybe something done in the mass processing, like heat drying. Other beans seem fine for long storage and with so many varieties, it seems so odd about only pintos. Something else is going on with the mass produced pintos. Almost makes me wonder if you grew your own pintos from heirloom stock that they would not have this short storage life problem.

They do look interesting.
