Facing my fear.....The Dentist

14 years ago I had a visit to a dentist where I was informed that my wisdom teeth need to be removed.

6 Months ago I went back to the dentist for a check up and to start a plan of attack for getting back on track. I have viewed several threads here and also picked up the book "When there is no Dentist" (im sure I butchered that title). Regardless it's a good book and it quickly made me realize that I need to quit being an idiot and use the services that are available to me, because the alternative to not having those services is pretty grim.

During my visit six months ago the dentist informed me that I have some things that require some attention but not until I had the wisdom teeth removed. We scheduled an appointment with an oral surgeon and in true jm19 fashion I ask.."So how long can I put this off?" Work was busy and this guy was telling me to expect 7-12 days of recovery and our awesome insurance would require us to pay 100%.

Fast forward a few months approx. 7 days ago, I was introduced to a pain that I would not wish on my worst enemy. All coming from my mouth,, it was absolutely horrible.

My procedure was today, I sit here with 4 less teeth in my mouth (wisdom's) and stitches for each of them. Appointments set for next week, and this time I didn't ask how long I could put it off. And honestly, I feel pretty good. Sore, but not bad at all.

I don't think I am the only one with a phobia of the dentist and I hope that anyone who may read this who shares this little fear will not wait as long as I did. Much like equipment, preventative maintenance is much cheaper then a complete overhual or possible replacement. So,,,,go get it taken care of!:thumb:
